First night fancy French hotel!
John testing an alternative vehicle.
Tim, John, and the bikes at the Col de la Faucille in the Alps above Geneva.
Tim, Me, John, coffee and doughnuts on the lakefront at Geneva.
The ski resort of Flaine in the French Alps. Do not go here in summer.
Tim, Me and John on the road near Les Carroz, French Alps. Behind us is one of the first steep bits I ever skied down. Doesn't look very scary without the snow.
Chamonix. It was SO hot.
The team, with the entrance to the Mont Blanc Tunnel between the bikes. It's about 6 miles long, which is a long way on a motorbike!
Campsite in Val d'Isere.
John climbing to the Col de l'Iseran above Val d'Isere.
Real Alpine roads!
How blue is THAT?! Near the Col du Mont Cenis, just about to cross from France into Italy, for the second time!
Sunset over Lake Garda. We swam. It was a bit grubby but beautifully cool after a hideously hot and sticky day. The Italians are not nice drivers.
The town of Torbole, at the head of Lake Garda.
More amazing mountain roads, descending towards Vicenza.
Suddenly the scenery changed and the roads were empty. Welcome to Slovenia!
Our hotel in Bakar, Croatia. Lovely outside, and austere Eastern Bloc decor inside. Don't try the breakfast...
Chocolate box scenery and empty roads in Austria.
Budapest. Home of remarkably aggressive female drivers.
The easternmost point of the journey. Near the village of Rabka in southern Poland.
Auschwitz. The memorial plaque says "For ever let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity..." It's a shame we haven't heeded it.
The old town square in Prague. Well, you've got to be a tourist sometimes...
Some gnomes...
Colditz. It's a wonder anyone wanted to escape - it's lovely!
John - trying to escape!
The Brandenburg Gate, Berlin.
A quick screenwash.
Coffee in Hoorn, Netherlands, prior to the ferry home.
